North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve: Cal Fish & Wildlife – Oroville ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

2/7/2021: We have hiked Table Mountain Ecological Reserve at least five times since early 2021. It is a wonderful place to take the family for a shorter (~4.0 miles roundtrip) hike to Ravine Falls, or hike a little further to Phantom Falls. There are, I believe, about seven falls on the entire loop hike. They are all seasonal, so you want to hike early in the season when the water is flowing and in conjunction with the wildflower bloom. The wildflowers on Table Mountain are spectacular. The easier hikes are pretty crowded, especially on a weekend. The longer loop hikes are less traveled, and you will definitely find some solitude. The hikes range from easy to moderate. This (especially the long loop hike) has got to be one of my favorite hikes of all time.

• 8.0 miles loop – or you can do a shorter out and back hike.
• 4.0 miles roundtrip – Phantom Falls
• Difficulty: Moderate
• Elevation range: gain 500’ to 1000’
• Traffic: Modest to Heavy
• Getting There: No issues
• Trail Obstacles: It can be very muddy in places. Wear waterproof boots if you have them.
• Fees: A CDFW Lands Pass must be in possession by each visitor who is 16 years of age or older, however, visitors who are in possession of a valid California hunting or fishing license in their name are exempt from this requirement. Lands passes may be purchased on-line, by phone at (800) 565-1458, or in-person at locations wherever hunting and fishing licenses are sold.
